Feb. 17th, 2004 08:14 pmI had a winner of a night last night. Insomnia kicked my ass. I woke up at 2:15 am, and while I usually can go back to sleep, I didn't last night. I just kind of dozed in a fitful surface catnap and then woke up before my alarm went off at 6.
einini and
mcamy, why must we go through this? Well, I have stress to blame, and I should exercise, but still... grumpy no fun.
Today sucked beyond the telling of it. I was so tired my body hurt and almost all my students have some kind of cold and they also have forgotten how to cover their mouths when they cough. Grrr. Cooties all over me.
Wonderful Roommate made sushi tonight (California rolls) and they are delicious. And incredibly easy once you get the hang of rolling them up. My house is the House of Delicacies. Yum!

1. Your favorite song with the name of a city in the title or text.
Oh, how about "New York" by U2?
2. A song you've listened to repeatedly when you were depressed at some point in your life.
How Soon Is Now - the Smiths "I am human and I need to be loved, just like everybody else does..." This was the soundtrack of my dateless teenage life.
3. Ever bought an entire album just for one song and winded up disliking everything but that song? Gimme that song.
Oh, I don't remember the band name, but there was a song called "The Female of the Species Is More Deadly than the Male". It was fun, but man was the album dreck.
4. A song whose lyrics you thought you knew in the past, but about which you later learned you were incorrect.
There are many. I never quite hear the lyrics right.
5. Your least favorite song on one of your favorite albums of all time.
I don't love "Green Eyes" on Coldplay's Rush of Blood to the Head.
I equally dislike "Fascination Street" on Disintegration by the Cure.
6. Song you like by someone you find physically unattractive or otherwise repellent.
Well, that would be a Jackson song. I like "Human Nature"
7. Your favorite song that has expletives in it that's not by Liz Phair.
Yeah, "Closer" by NIN. That's just an incredible song.

I have no idea on this one.

"Low" REM from Out of Time
11. A song that sounds to you like being happy feels.
"Love Cats" - the Cure. And "Why Can't I Be You" which to me is ecstatic. The Cure was never a mopy band for me ;)

Ooh, this is tough.
Non-soundtrack?
Ummm, ah! "Coventry Carol" Alison Moyet from one of the Very Special Christmas compilations.

Anything from that too catchy to hate first Beastie Boys album.

17. One of the earliest songs that you can remember listening to.
"Sugar" by the Archies. But "Wildfire" was my first big favorite.

Well, I guess I got mocked for a lot of my 80's alternative music loves by friends who didn't get it.
19. A really good cover version you think no one else has heard.
I have no idea.
