Clifton Jameson was an antiquarian. He had a small, crowded shop on a quiet street in Boston. Amongst the silver goblets and Roman coins that littered the shelves was one very special item that Clifton held dear above all others. He had bought it from a whaler along with a carved walrus tooth and a cracked piece of heathen pottery. The gold piece was kept in a special case, its ominous design only shared with a few special customers. When the pirates came, he pleaded with them to be careful of the items in his store that they so nonchalantly began to spoil. Did they not know the importance of historic conservation? They slit his throat to shut him up and were mighty glad for the silence.
