Nov. 18th, 2003 07:23 pmHee hee, class got out early and I'm in the super fast computer lab goofing off for a few minutes. Sigh...
Must go home and write my stressful paper that doesn't seem to be long enough by any means of measuring. Thank goodness I am working in a group and it really only has to be 7 pages long, which means I actually could squeak by with two and a half pages, really (one girl already has three pages, the other will have at least that). Stress stress stessity stress.
Oh and speaking of stress, yesterday was a wild and distressing day at my workplace. First thing in the morning we come in to see that the parking lot we all park in is a crime scene - a homicide, in fact. The crime lab was out for hours and everything. So that was odd enough, even though it didn't effect us or the students in anyway (the body had been dumped in the parking lot - the crime ocurred elsewheree). So then in the afternoon one of the teachers and her brand new assistant had to go to a home visit for a new student. Five minutes in, the mom goes to bring the youngest daughter to show off. Tragically the child had drowned in a bucket of water. The mother hysterically brings the toddler screaming for the teacher to help her. The teacher tried CPR till the paramedics came, but the child was already dead. SO then the police needed the teacher and our supervisor (who had come right away) to go to the police station to make statements and they offered to watch over the four other children since the parents had been taken into custody for questioning. They were with the kids at the station about three hours or so. Let me now just relate how very very glad I am that this wasn't me.
Phew. I now need to skedaddle and do actual work.

Date: 2003-11-20 09:06 am (UTC)I read about that kid in the news, and worried that you might be involved, but for some reason I thought I would know if you had home visits scheduled. Maybe I'm crazy. Boy, am I glad it wasn't you. Argh.
We're having rough weeks all around. Hopefully the holidays will be nothing but cheer!
