Dear Yuletide Author
Nov. 13th, 2010 07:43 pmDear Yuletide Author,
I am very excited, as I am every year, about Yuletide. I am pretty easy to write for. My sign up descriptions gave you some specific details you need, but here is a little bit more.
I love character development. I love when characters learn something from each other and when their strengths and weaknesses complement each other, whether they are in a relationship or not.
I enjoy het, gen, and slash. If it's well-written and the relationship makes sense, I will ship it. I have no qualms with violence or action scenes as long as they - and here is my constant refrain - make sense within the context of the story. Same thing with explicit sex. I adore hurt/comfort, romance, adventure, hijinks, silliness, and true love. I do not care for m-preg, overly fluffy fluff (a little fluff is perfectly fine!), graphic blood and guts, or harm to children or animals. I do have grammar and spelling pet peeves, but as long as someone proofreads your work, that will not be an issue.
From a meme a while back, here are my Top Five Bulletproof Tropes:
* Damaged Person and their One in Five Billion - I am a sucker for this story. Mulder and Scully are first I think of. It could be a platonic couple, but I am all about this in a romantic pairing. This often ties in with #5. *shifty* (ETA: Cornelius/Luis from the Tithe series fit this trope omg so well.)
* Oh My God We're Doomed, But We Can Still Laugh About It - Buffy the Vampire Slayer, yup. Quirky humor always pleases me.
* This Is All Pretend, But There Is Realism Here! - I may adore fantasy and odd AUs, but only when things make sense in the context of real human interactions.(ETA: I also like realistic facts anchoring fantasy and imaginative worlds. You don't have to be a science/history geek, but weaving research into stories fills me with glee.)
* There Is a Hidden World Where You Least Expect It - Um, just about everything I love has this trope.
* Handsome But Troubled Villains/Anti-Heroes Who Just Need To Be Loved! - Ahem. Is anyone really surprised?
In conclusion, have fun. Enjoy Yuletide. I will appreciate your story, no matter what you write for me.
