After my second viewing in a non-digital screen, dead audience theater, I have a few more comments. I still enjoyed the movie greatly, but after the "meep!" producing moments of the first viewing, I have a little criticism.
Did we have to have the frickin' Spielbergian "Hurray for the good guys" ending? I really didn't care for the ending at all. It dragged the movie out.
HERESY ALERT! HERESY ALERT!
I love Alan Rickman. I love Severus Snape. Alan RIckman is too old to be Snape. And it shows and it made me sad. Snape is supposed to be about 36 in book 4 - the smae age as Harry's father. Sigh. I was wishing at times that Isaacs (Lucius) had gotten the part - I believe I read that he tried for it.
More heretical thoughts: Richard Harris was never as I imagined Dumbledore. He was always a bit more serious than I envisioned. I'm not speaking ill of the dead, he does a fine interpretation of the Headmaster. Just not what I had seen in my mind.
Speaking of Headmasters, there was only one Headmistress portrait in Dumbledore's office. Sexist set dressing bastards ;)
Draco talks way too fast. Slow down, kiddo!
Less spiders and flying cars. More character development.
I forgot to mention that I loved how the Floo powder was filmed. Looks like fun.
I am really eager to see the deleted scenes on the DVD. I'm also eager to see how a different, less mainstream director approaches PoA.
Does anyone know of a HP fic recommending list? Something along the lines of Better Buffy Fics?
