Woke up with three mosquito bites. Hello West Nile!
I did my reading assignments, but I keep putting off one hard assignment. I'll do it, I'll do it.
Went to a quilting store today and found out about the classes they offer. Not that I have any time or anything, but I have the top of a quilt of my great-grandmother's that needs to be finished. I could do it. Maybe.
I also wandered around the antique mall close to me. I go there on a regualr basis, just to look. I collect old photographs and vintage clothes - though not as mush as I used to. I have a trunk full of beautiful dresses. My oldest is from the 1910's, but most are 50's and 60's. Most I wore in high school as part of my everyday or going out wardrobe. Pretties... I dream of one day having a way to display them. Either that or I'll just sell them on e-bay. Kinda wistful and gloomy today.
I'm eager to find out about this interview and what kind of time I might have to do it. Yeeks. Crossing fingers I won't have to lie to get out of work.

Date: 2003-09-08 01:06 pm (UTC)Hmm, I've been thinking about learning to quilt, too. Or crochet or something, b/c I like to keep my hands busy but w/o keyboard-induced pain. ;-P Also, if I'm going to have a baby, I'd really like to create something while gestating. It's this whole thing from my high-school Wiccan days and infusing one's creations with spells and other wannabe "Mist of Avalon" crap. ;) Not having a sewing machine is a bit of hindrance, though.
Glad Naomi could help w/ the WNTW clothing stuff. Sounds like fun. I schlub all day (being at home will do that to ya) and desperately need some instruction.
Good luck w/ interviews, students, and classes!
Re: Quilting
Date: 2003-09-08 07:19 pm (UTC)Well, it is such a vital, woman power kind of thing to do. I can crochet badly, but well enough to make assymetrical but sweet lap blankets for family ;) And I might just go hard core and try to quilt by hand since I can not seem to work the sewing machine I own. Or maybe I'll figure it out. Once I get a few more moments of time in two years or so.
