Sep. 28th, 2007 09:31 pmTV shows! I watched some!
I liked it! Rather than being a Supernatural clone, it was really much more akin to Buffy crossed with Ghostbusters. I could have done without some of the Kevin Smith exuberance shining through the burly sidekick, but Sam, the lead character, is interesting. The relationship between him and Satan (Ray Wise, who just... steals every scene with his gorgeously charming evil) will be most intriguing to watch. What I loved was the juxtaposition between the loving parents who coddle Sam (yet sold his soul to the devil) and the devil who tells him to stand up and make something of himself. Or else.
It's much funnier/sillier than I thought it would be, and I am fine with that. The tone is what makes it an entirely different show from its network-mate. Also, it is written by two women who love genre shows. As a result, I'm more than willing to give it more viewings.
Ahahahaha. Moonlight is so Angel. But this one was also not nearly as wretched as I thought it would be. Anime Daughter loves it, and it's just right for a thirteen-year-old or someone who digs the whole vampire genre. Like me. So I'll likely eyeball it on Friday nights for fun.
Ugly Betty might be a top favorite show. I adore it. I laughed so hard, and then the last scene sucker-punched me and made me bawl. I love the characters, I love the soap opera, I love this show.
