Okay, one of my favorite games to play is Spot the Darkfriend. It's obvious that Ingtar is a Darkfriend. I mean, I called it the moment he faced the Fade. Now this Selene chick - she's Lanfear, isn't she? Or one of the Forsaken. Right? Right? I mean, she's something Bad. She wouldn't be so hot, if she weren't.

I knew Moiraine and Tom had a lot in common, but I didn't realize the entirety of Tar Valon was Slytherin House. I love getting more insight on the Aes Sedai. Also I adored Verin's manipulation of Nynaeve into staying for the lesson - "Novices, demeaning chores, la la la - oh, you're staying dear? Wonderful!"

One thing I am also enjoying is the description of how the power works - how Lan channels through the taint, how the Light fills the magic user, and so on.

Oh, over the weekend, I splurged at the comic store. I got Dark Tower 1 and 2, the 1st Buffy, and the rest of the Neverwhere series I'd missed. I've really liked all of them, but the Buffy especially. It's so nice to see those characters again.

Verin is the best character in the series, IMO. At least as far as I read in the series (Book 8 or 9 or something).

It's funny you identify Tar Valon with Slytherin. I remember reading these books in grad school and thinking Tar Valon = academia. (Isn't the tower ivory even?)

And yes, she is.

*grins cheerfully at Darkfriend speculation* I am assuming you do not want me to confirm or deny, beyond looking cheerful and cryptic. I can comment in whitetext or whatever if this is not the case.

*cracks up* Yes. Tar Valon is Slytherin Central, and that's a lovely way of putting it. Oh my GOD the manipulation there. (I am assuming, though, that you mean Rand channeling through the taint, rather than Lan. Too many similar names!)

My favorite part of this series is going back and rereading the beginning books, before you know people are evil, and laughing at how obvious their lines make it. It's half of what makes playing the Black Rider fun, after all.
