For [livejournal.com profile] boniblithe's Feedback Challenge, I received a writer named [livejournal.com profile] pinn2480. Here are three stories by Pinn that I read and reviewed. They are not in a category that I usually read (Dom/Elijah and the OC, about which I know almost nothing) but I enjoyed taking a look anyway.

And He's Taken All that I Just Had
A nice little ficlet. I really liked this line.
Of course, the last time Dom saw Elijah, Dom had told him it was one thing to love someone but it was a completely different thing to love breaking them.

In the Life of Each of Us
Dom/Elijah
This was a very sweet fic from an Elijah POV. I like the character voice, and it seemed very well thought out. This one links with the first with this: Every day after that, Elijah has had to exert every ounce of self-control and self-preservation he's got to stop himself from walking up to Dom and saying, "Break me."

I'm glad I took a chance on this OC/Dom crossover, Tickets. Seth meets Dom in a bar and Dom does a cool big brotherly service. I don't know Seth from Adam, but did he really try to sail to Tahiti from Southern Cal? Snerk. That's pretty damn funny. The Dom characterization is great - he's very funny, especially with this line:

"Doesn't matter, you're still too young to self-destruct. I think it should be a rule for Americans that they can't be angsty and ready to run away from their lives until they're at least twenty."

So thanks, [livejournal.com profile] pinn2480, for expanding my fic horizons in a very enjoyable way.

My LJ Best Friend is... )
Hee, how cool!

Due to [livejournal.com profile] boniblithe's Feedback Challenge, I've read some really good Buffy stories bu auhtor's I didn't know much about. I'm looking forward to reading a bit more Harry Potter, as well. Today might need to be a reading day, instead of a writing day, like I had planned.

I'd been gnashing my teeth, avoiding my computer after throwing up my hands in disgust earlier, and seriously considering stopping writing forever, when I read this advice on Neil Gaiman's blog:

Make mistakes. Make great mistakes, make wonderful mistakes, make glorious mistakes. Better to make a hundred mistakes than to stare at a blank piece of paper too scared to do anything wrong, too scared to do anything.

Thanks, Neil! I so needed to hear that. Okay, back to altering your characters to fit my artistic needs! Seriously, I think I'm going to put the story I had in mind on hold for a bit, and work on some shorter ideas. And stop freaking out, for crying out loud!

I also might do some reading - Books on order came in from the library and I have 4 Terry Pratchetts (including the new Wee Free Men one!)and 2 non fiction books on Joan of Arc (For story research, she said, cackling maniacally.) Plus I have the complete Blackadder collection on DVD. I love the library.
