I had a great birthday - thanks to everyone for my well wishes! It was a very fandom related birthday: I scored on the LotR goodies, including Merry and Pippin action figures. Tee hee! I also got the collector's edition of the FotR EE, a rider of Rohan, Sauron, Elendil & Isildur figurines, as well as a Smiths video DVD (Snorri sometimes buys things he'd really like for other's birthdays - but that's okay), money (the always favorite prezzie), and clothes. Ooh, and an exercise ball, so's I can lose a few more pounds this summer.

I felt really really sad though because my birthday was marred by our dear [livejournal.com profile] anamazonruns being very very ill and not being able to host a cook out or come to the Sing Sing party that she organized for [livejournal.com profile] silveraspen's belated birthday that just so happened to work out perfectly for my actual birthday. I hope she gets better soon - I am very worried about her.

As it was, we all had a great time at Sing Sing, singing along to songs we'd requested (we got two X-Files related songs in - Walking in Memphis and Joy to the World as well as a couple of Monty Python ditties). I had a when fandoms collide moment in the best of ways, as [livejournal.com profile] debellatrix and Mr. Debellatrix joined my X-Files crowd for the first time. It always makes for a little nervousness when new friends of yours meet old ones, but I think everyone enjoyed each other. We entertained them with stories of our Internet cult days and they didn't run away, so it was good times.

Afterwards, [livejournal.com profile] silveraspen, [livejournal.com profile] pteropod, and [livejournal.com profile] dirk_the_daring went out for a little bit of dancing, which was quite fun. We found an 80's room where I got to relive a bit of my junior high, high school, and college years, so that was fun. But as I'm rediscovering on VH1 Classic, while some 80's music is wonderful and I love it, most of it's pure crap. Ah well ;)

I also got watching the craptacular RotK extras in this morning, before Day 2 of Birthday Weekend begins (I believe in celebrating for awhile). Wow, the EE better be chock a block full of goodies, cos the extras were lame. Except for the little glimpses of cut scenes, and the cute "Who's costume was better" story told by Billy. That was adorable.

Hee, have to write my summary story soon for [livejournal.com profile] mctabby's challenge. I got a funny one.

Happy Birthday, Flouritephoenix!

Even though it's been crappy so far, I hope you have a better "new" year. Poor sweetie, bad birthdays are the worst. *sends you happy unicorn thoughts*

Went with [livejournal.com profile] silveraspen to see The Day After Tomorrow this afternoon. Snorri grumbled as I was leaving, "Did they forget about the story with all those special effects?" (He is of the opinion that movies should be SERIOUS and not fluffy entertainment. This from the man who thought the Crocodile Hunter movie was excellent. *rolls eyes*)
I replied, "Hey, if I want a story, I'll read a book."
But I was then pleasantly surprised by the movie. Spoilers ) I think the experience was intensified by the truly wonderful Day After Tomorrow fic challenge stories I've been reading. There have been some incredibly good ones.

I am so happy that I have the day off tomorrow. So very happy.
