Why is my cat evil? Why must she stand by my head and scream at me until I wake up on the weekends? I am considering resorting to hiding treats under the pillow to appease her.

So sleepy...

Then, even after I feed her, if I go back to bed she comes back in to cry me awake cos she's lonesome. Silly kitty.

Our cats have elected to notify me of their need for food and affection (in that order) in the early morn by sitting on or beside me w/ their little furnace bodies and unblinking stares. By this point, X has left the crib for a spot nestled into me, so I have approx. 42 lbs. of roaring hot little creatures demanding I take care of their needs. Tigra is willing to lay next to or on top of X (before I notice and shove her off), but only Gilbert will lay there patiently whle X squeals and grabs bits of fur.

Oh, it's an every weekend kind of thing. And on spring break? EVERY DAY.

Yes, a nap is in my plans.

Yes, Vivien, cats are evil. That cats are evil is as certain as purring and fur migrating everywhere and constant demands for petting. Alas! how dreary would be the world if cats where not evil. There would be no midnight cat races, no cats chasing the CNN ticker and no cat snuggles to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment except drooly, sycophantic dogs. The eternal light with which cats fill the world would be extinguished.

Cats not evil!? Thank goodness! Cats are evil now and forever. A thousand years from now, Vivien, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, cats will still be evil and continue to make glad the hearts of all.

Yeah, my cat does the 'scream in your face' thing, too. Then she wanders around for a bit and asks me to put water in the sink and skritch her. Or skritch her while she stands on the back of the couch. I wish she'd learn to just curl up and purr for skritches.
