This is for a challenge community called Impulsedriven: One word, two minutes, any fandom. Wow. This is way harder than I ever dreamed.

Tom Riddle, Harry Potter

Tom Riddle wasn't used to kindness. A sort of detached pity or queasy saccharine doting were the closest things to it that he had ever known at the orphanage.

When he went to Hogwarts, people were kind to him for the first time ever. It didn't really matter by then.

Hee -thanks! I posted it in the wrong place though. this is for Impulsedriven, where you get a word and have two minutes only to write. If you like that Tom, you might like my Tom/Minerva story Strange and Wondrous. I had too much fun writing Tom. Seriously - it was a little scary sometimes.

In that case, I am SO GLAD to screwed up and posted it to your LJ. I don't really read HP anymore, and I've never read any Riddle- never really did any reading where a trip character wasn't the focus. But this was GREAT.

And, two minutes? Yikes, that sounds insanely hard!
