Jun. 11th, 2004 06:52 pmSomeone shouldn't have drunk tea so late... Wheeeeee! I had an overwhelming attack of inadequacy and fear tonight from nowhere. The blues slapped me upside the head. But a cuppa helped me through it, and I'm much more cheerful now.
Huh, there's been talk of a "Good Omens" movie for several years now, it would seem. How odd. I have very mixed feelings about that. (In my head I hear and sort of see Kenneth Branagh as Aziraphale and Alan Cummings as Crowley, so I'm not needing a movie at this point.)
Hee hee hee - We are going to the Ren Fair tomorrow, and guess what the theme is? Pirates!!!! I am muchly looking forward to this cheesiness. Yarr, whar be the ale and crystal unicorn figgereens? I can see Snorri rolling his eyes now ;)

What's the last thing you wrote?
Last Ride to Bree
Was it any good?
I was happy with how it turned out. It was an idea that had been rattling about for awhile, so having to write it for a challenge was a Good Thing.
What's the first thing you ever wrote that you still have?
I think my mom still has all my kid writing. I have some goofy little newspapers I made up when I was around 8.
Was it any good?
Ha ha ha ha...
Write poetry?
I used to.
Angsty poetry?
Again, I used to :)
Favourite genre of writing?
Fanfiction.
Most fun character you ever wrote?
Fun... Hmmm... Gilderoy and Narcissa. But in a scary fun way, Tom Riddle came waaay too easy for me to write.
Most annoying character you ever wrote?
Gosh, I'm not sure. Way back in my first published fic days, Xander was hard for me to write.
Best plot you ever wrote?
I am still the most proud of Strange and Wondrous.
Coolest plot twist you ever wrote?
S&W was right twisty.
How often do you get writer's block?
Not so much block as the inability to transfer my little movies in my head to words.
How do you fix it?
I dream about it - seriously, at night as I'm falling asleep, I play the movies, thinking about what happens next, what everyone's saying. I even do some narration. Then if I'm lucky I'll dream about it. That seems to help with the incubation. But really, I just have to sit my ass down and force myself to write sometimes, even if it sucks.
Write fan fiction?
Well, that's all I do. So far.
Do you type or write by hand?
I sketch out outlines by hand, but I only type now. It hurts my hand and arm to write too much.
Do you save everything you write?
In some manner.
Do you ever go back to an old idea long after you abandoned it?
Weeeell, I'd like to say yes, but I think my Regaining sequel might be orphaned. Unless I can come to grips with the fanon/canon divide of my rendering of Snape which really is what's keeping me from finishing.
What's your favourite thing that you've written?
Strange and Wondrous.
Do you even show people your work?
Often before I should. I get a bit impatient.
Who's your favourite constructive critic?
I don't have a regular, but if
silveraspen says that she likes it, then I breathe a sigh of relief.
Do you have a web site for your writings?
Yes.
Did you ever write a novel?
In my head! One day I might start writing it, even.
Have you ever written fantasy, sci-fi, or horror?
Um, yes indeed!
Ever written romance or teen angsty drama?
Well, the romance I write tends to be odd pairings, but it is romance. I guess teen angsty drama comes with the HP fandom, eh?
What's your favourite setting for your characters?
I don't know. I like exploring past and futures, mostly.
What's one genre you have never written, and probably never will?
Slash for slash's sake.
How many writing projects are you working on right now?
Three.
Do you want to write for a living?
Maybe? I doubt I have the talent. But who knows?
Have you ever written something for a magazine or newspaper?
No. I was a yearbook editor in high school though.
Have you ever won an award for your writing?
Yes, I won a statewide award from the Council of English Teachers for a poem I wrote in 11th grade.
Ever written something in script or play format?
Yes! I wrote a short horror film that I'm quite proud of. It's... somewhere. This was pre-computer. I should dig it out and work on it.
What are your five favourite words?
Ha! soft silly love whisper
Do you ever parody?
Only for challenges. I tend to have Serious Plot Bunnies.
What's your favourite thing to parody?
I have such limited experience, I'm not sure.
Do you actually like that thing, or are you spitefully making fun of it?
N/A
Do you ever write based on yourself?
Well, you have to draw on your own experience and interpretations of life, so yeah. From Tom Riddle to Narcissa to Merry, there's a bit of me swirled in the mix.
What character that you've written most resembles yourself?
Hermione.
Where do you get ideas for your other characters?
Man, they just come. Usually after reading stories or fic that inspires me into new tangents of thought. I try to keep to canon character voice, and that helps guide the development.
Do you ever write based on your dreams?
See above.
Do you favour happy endings, sad endings, or cliff-hangers?
I write the endings as they come.
Have you ever written based on an artwork you've seen?
You know, I can't think of any art that's inspired me. Usually it's the written word.
Are you concerned with spelling and grammar as you write?
Yes. Spell check is my friend. I edit and reread over and over, but I still am embarrassed by the errors that get by me.
Ever write something entirely in chatspeak? (How r u?)
It's a foreign language, truly. No.
Entirely in L337?
I have no clue as to what this is.
Was that question completely appalling and un-writer like?
I guess?
Does music help you write?
Sometimes song lyrics will strike chords and further a story along, but I do the actual writing best in silence. I have been horrified by too many cheesy songfics, so I tend to steer clear of anything that smacks of it.
Do you have a weblog or livejournal?
What an odd question. Why yes, yes I do!
Are people surprised and confused when they find out you write well?
Do I even write well? I feel very inadequate when I compare myself to the writers I love.
Quote something you've written. The first thing to pop into your mind.
I just wrote this today, as a matter of fact.
"Did I Fall?" said Aziraphale, his voice wavering.
"No, you fell and I caught you," said Crowley.
Sigh, I know, I know... another fandom to write in. I consider it well rounded and not - I repeat, not - flighty. I blame the tea. And sunspots. And other stuff. Hooboy!
