I'm home...
Dec. 29th, 2003 03:37 pmAnd I feel like I've been beaten vigorously with sticks. Man oh man, the drive yesterday really wore me out - in our determination to get home we only stopped three times to get out and move around. Stupid, stupid...
So I've unpacked all of my Christmas swag - shirts and Harry Potter stationary and jewelry and quilt and sheets and books and lots of other fun stuff. However to fit it all in, I am going to do my annual post-Christmas clean sweep. I already have a big garbage bag full of clothes to discard and I'm going to really attack the rest of my clutter and be ruthless... But not till tomorrow. I barely got unpacked today.
I saw RotK again with my mom. She is such an Orli fan ;) I warned her whenever he was coming on the screen since during Two Towers the night before she made silly little squees every time. And we were in public, dontcha know. She was also partial to Faramir.
However, I am not counting this viewing since the sound wasn't right and there were annoying people around me (and I quote "His name is Mary? That's weird.") So that just means I have to see it again.
Why isn't Sam living in Bag End?
Where is Eomer's crown in the end scene - or at least mention that he's King of Rohan?
I hadn't noticed Frodo's raw, bloody neck from the Ring's chain.
I loved the Gandalf and Pippin moments even more - I also heard the Grey Havens theme (Into the West) during Gandalf's speech about what happens after death.
The lighting of the beacons rocks my world. Whenever I heard the music on the soundtrack I got chills, and seeing the visual doubled the effect.
The ending seemed very long the second time around. I liked Frodo waking up and seeing the Fellowship again, but the Shire bits could've been way pared down. The whole tavern bit could've been cut.
I love hobbitses.
I am in lurve with Billeh. Totally and completely. I was shocked to see he was born in '68, making him two years older than me! The Pippin character is probably my favorite of the movies.

He is?
I really must read those books again. I was under the impression, from the film, that Eowyn became queen.

And yay for the Billeh! It's the voice that did it for me. Men who can sing do strange things to my knees.

But yeah, the movie does lean towards Queen Eowyn, come to think of it.
