Anyone can join to get their feet wet at DW. I have nine invite codes in a main post for whoever would like them (or take advantage of the open membership period).
Create a multiple character journal (as explained in the guidelines here).
And then post someone in and try out some tags. This might be helpful for those of us who are not ready to leave LJ entirely but want to know a bit more about DW.
