Aug. 17th, 2009 10:01 pmWah. True Blood made me cry.
That was such a good episode. You know, what gets me about this show on a consistent basis is how real the characters are. I mean, you see the ugly, but you see the sublime, too.
Godric. I'll miss Godric. However, because of him, I look forward to more Eric.
Hoyt wins just about everything. It's so easy for shows set in the south to show one kind of man, but as Evelyn alludes to in Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe, there are good men, too, good daddies and husbands who try their best. And then there's Lafayette, who gets to be a man who is gay (and effeminate) and not an effeminate stereotype. Way to go, show. Diversity is not just about sticking different-looking characters in a show. It's about exploring the actual differences.
The women are just as realistic, and I have to shout out for Adina Porter's portrayal of Lettie Mae Thornton. I continue to be impressed by her performance, because I continually forget that she's an actress playing a part.
I'm sick of Maryann, though. It's time to bring that creature down.
Sigh. I love this show. So, so much.
