I don't want anyone to faint, but...
Aug. 22nd, 2003 09:18 pmI actually had a decent last couple of days at work. Mostly because I was actually doing something, as opposed to killing time. I have to go on home visits to meet the families and kids who are starting in my class. I've met some real cuties, and so far, some very nice parents. So that's a good thing.
I've taken nas after work two days in a row, and I'm still ready to sleep by 10:00 - yup, right there - a big yawn and it's only 9:20.
All this virus talk is unsettling. I think my subscription to the anti-virus program ran out. I should probably do something about it. But I don't use MSN or Outlook or anything like that, and I have a puny dial up connection. However, I guess my computer could be Typhoid Mary for all I know. Urg - I hate dealing with details.
So glad it's Friday...

Date: 2003-08-23 01:45 pm (UTC)See here's the thing. People who get viruses without an AV don't know. SO. They spread the virus...or end up part of a Denial of Service attack. It's not just about slowing down your computer, but infected you could (even with dial up, but not as likely I admit) have a part in slowing down the internet. Drastically. I mean some schmoe could implant a little program ready to launch and do some very bad things...all using your machine. OR if they were just nasty, there are actually viruses that are capable of destroying the boot record on your hard drive, rendering it essentially useless.
Thus endth Joni's soapbox lecture of the day :P
