My now lame predictions revealed
Jun. 21st, 2003 04:25 pmI finally finished - I'm a fast reader, but not uberfast like some I'll mention (raises eyebrow at Ms. "I read it by 4:30am"
silveraspen.
Wow, I was really off on my predictions. But Bill did show up again, and Hermione kissed Ron on the cheek, and Remus is a closeish guess to Sirius. Actually as I started reading, I thought "Oh no, it's going to be Percy." When Arthur was attacked, I panicked. Not Arthur. Please not Arthur. I knew after Arthur got well it wouldn't be Dumbledore. Then I kind of started to wonder if it would Sirius. But only because he was more of a focus in the story than any of my other guesses.
So, I liked. I liked a lot. I am going to have to think about it and read it a couple of times to absorb all the info.
Brief sketches:
-Neville -so cool. So very cool to see his character development.
-Ginny - hurray, coming into her own a bit more.
-Canon Snape that is shockingly similar to most Fanon Snape. Squee!
-How Percy changed shocked me. Git.
-Tonks, hee hee.
-I am actually in an Umbridge like situation at work. I hate when they come in with their little clipboards and take their back stabbing notes. Grr.
-I wanted more McGonagall, but what I got I liked a whole lot. I also am sooooo happy that her date of starting teaching at Hogwarts is only a couple of years off from what I am planning fic wise.
-I actually enjoyed Ron this book - he's not nearly as much of a jerk as he was.
-St. Mungo's! The Ministry! The Department of Mysteries!
-Neville's mom broke my heart.
-Sirius's lineage and family home. Scary. So vividly depcited though. I am thinking a movie depiction will be full of unpleasant images. Just the portrait of his mother screaming creeped me out.
-George and Fred are my heroes.
-I really liked how the Headmaster/Headmistresses portraits still work for the current Head.
-Lucius Malfoy in Azkaban - whee!
-Did I mention I really liked the character development? Harry broody and moody, Dumbledore not perfect, James and Sirius not the saints Harry thought them to be...
This was a great book.
Man, is there going to be a ficapalooza out there or what? I can't wait to start reading and writing.
