How about your five current favorite movies?
1. Amadeus
2. Pirates of the Caribbean (just because it's so much fun)

On a slightly less la la la note, the situation in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast is actually starting to get to me, and I am one of those hardened weirdos for whom disasters don't usually effect. I've stopped watching coverage.

I think what is upsetting me most is how an entire city can go from lovely, cultured place to disaster zone filled with scary, Lord of the Flies-like people so quickly.

It reminds me of the looting I witnessed during the Rodney King LA riots. What everyone has to remember is how few ppl it takes to make everyone else miserable. It could be fewer than one in 100 that does any opportunistic crime, but it sets the other 99 ppl further on edge, into fear, and gives that sense of lawlessness pervading as these activities go on in broad daylight.
I wish the news would focus more on that 99 struggling with multiple fears than on the very few, even if they are thoughtful enough to smash a store window while on camera. {eyeroll}

Exactly. I want to hear about the heroes, large and small. I know there are thousands of them out there helping people when they don't have to.

My mistake was in turning on the news tonight to see the city 80% underwater.

... my school was on the north side of the city, right by Lake Ponchartrain. I recognize so many of the places I see on the TV.

And I know just how much worse it must be for those who still call it home, and whose families have called it home for years and years.

I know that this is hard for you. I simply can't imagine the heartache this has created for folks from there.

I drove along the Gulf Coast highway when I was 17 on a family vacation - it was such a beautiful place. I was only there the one trip, and I grieve for the loss.
