Speaking of travelling in time, MTV is 25 years old today. Which means almost 25 years ago, I turned it to that channel and watched "Heart of Glass" by Blondie and said "OMG THIS IS THE COOLEST THING EVER"!!! Then I pretty much didn't stop watching till they stopped playing videos. VH1 Classic is playing that entire first day, you see. Complete with Vee Jays.

I have obviously gone through a time warp. It can't really have been that long.

Oh, the memories of all the hours spent watching MTV...actually I wasn't always, uh, sober so the memories are kinda fuzzy but I KNOW I was enjoying it immensely.

Hmm, I don't think we get anything besides Much and Much More. The rest are extra $$. Plus, frankly, their MMM retro memories are far whiter than mine, so a lot of music I miss is not represented and a lot of rock I don't miss is.

Hm that is an interesting point - most of my retro memories are either Brit Pop or Hard Rock/Metal, I hadn't thought about it. Hmmm indeed.

(and now we're discussing this in the office because our morning conversation consisted of diversity and Immigrants, so this was an interesting aspect)
