vivienI am giving this spoilerific post levels. I am done, having stayed up till 4:30 AM taking a three hour nap, and finishing at 10:30. Much faster than last time... And I will say, without spoiling, that this book is much better than OotP. Much better written. Better story, more interesting characterization. Yeah. I am happy.
Double Apparation - I knew it could be done and it wasn't an issue in the WW! I wrote about it way back in my first fic, Regaining, and I feel so validated! *dances about*
Regulus! Hans, you were right!
I liked getting a better view of the shielding charms and protection spells.
I was wrong about conjuring drinks. I really thought that wouldn't be an easy thing to do - taste would be off and such. Oh well.
I was also surprised about transfiguring oneself into inanimate objects, but that does make sense, really.
Merope!!!! Tom's mother = not pure evil!!!! Oh my god, what a tragic figure. AND I WROTE HER THUSLY!!! I EVEN GOT THE NOT WANTING TO BE A WITCH SORTA RIGHT!!!
Every fanon ship seems have come true. Which was kinda... I don't know. I have mixed feelings. I like Remus/Tonks, though. And Fleur? I loff Fleur. Way to go Gwynne and Heather for Millicanon and canon uniting liek whoa!
I also got the whole lingering magic, being able to tell what kind of magic exists in a place right.
Florean! Ollivander! OMG. I'll have to factor that into Millicanon, I think, as the ice cream shop is an oft frequented place.
The Unbreakable Vow? Yeah, that's going to be used in game at some point.
Snape... wtf? I am still just... wtf???
Draco... wtf???? Although I know there is much squeeing now for Draco-redemptionistas. As well as the H/D crowd who no doubt have squeed muchly over Harry's obsession. SNERK
Dumbledore... I had hoped it wouldn't happen till the last book. It makes sense it happened now, though.
Tom... lots of Tom. Lots of sociopathic, evil from birth Tom. Which is a cop out, I feel. However, it was chilling to find out more backstory, because I honestly thought we would never know. His mother loved him and his father, though. That is going to play a very important part, I feel. I also got the red gleam flaring in his eyes right. My but he was a charming sociopath, though. OH! And I got the fear driven aspect right, as Dumbledore says. He was a frightened person deep down, psychopath or no. I like my version of Tom better. Mostly cos mine didn't strangle any rabbits... Eep.
Does it say when he created the diary? I know he gives it to Malfoy Sr. right before he's vanquished. I am wondering how early he was able to fragment his soul. And hello, Neverwhere crossover, yet again with that. Kinda.

Oh and hated how V thought that it must have been on the fahers side.
