Jun. 14th, 2005 05:49 pmI started writing this at 8:08 AM. I figured, if I can't read LJ, I can at least write an entry. As long as no one looks to closely, and I've learned the whole keep the rest of the screen looking like you've got work stuff going on. :-P
Sneaky and devious, that is me.
Is anyone going to see "Batman Begins"? I am intrigued. I'd like to fit it into my sloth and RP packed weekend, I think. Oh man, am I ever looking forward to a full weekend of sloth. Sloth is an underrated deadly sin, I feel. I love it so.
Music notes:
I really like the new Coldplay. It is different in tone from "A Rush of Blood to the Head" which remains my favorite, but it's still quite good. A word to describe it would be cosmic - it seems very dreamy and positve, whereas the first two were yearning and wistful verging on melancholy. The songs are as catchy as ever, and just different enough from the rest to show that the group isn't stuck.
The new Mercury Rev is also quite good, although I've only had a chance to give it one listen.
In a surprisingly good and quite different choice of music, we are all of us hooked on a country group called Big and Rich. Yes, yes, I know - some of you are saying "Country group? WTF?" These guys are just... fabulous. They are hippie, funny country with excellent music and message to back them up. They feature an incredible rapper called Cowboy Troy (whose album is a groundbreaking, ultracool blend of hip hop and country that works so amazingly well it's unreal) on one of their songs, and they advocate peace and tolerance. Cowboy Troy also happens to be black, which is a rare, rare thing in Nashville. But yeah, really good music, and lots of silliness.
