*Gasps in delight and then swoons*

Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort? Wuh? Guh! Eeeeeeeee!

*is dead now*

And I saw that JKR is planning an 8th book! More of the eeeeeeee!

Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] bethbethbeth! I hope you have a great one!

I have a question for you, oh worldy people. Tom, my character at Milliways, is taking a holiday with his dearest love and her 5 year old sister (awww, his first family vacation.) They are going to the Italian Riviera, Venice, Rome, Moscow, Paris, Romania, and wherever else I feel like writing about. Does anyone know of magical sounding places the trio could go in these cities? Real or fanon (I will credit authors of course.) Thanks in advance for any suggestions - my research time has been curtailed by work and too much RPG.

They could tour the catacombs in Rome.

Hmm. I'm not sure about that. An 8th book. Her structure seems really tight as it is, so it'll matter very much why she's doing it. If it's that she's realized she needs another book to fit everything in, that's one thing. If it's that she just knows people would like (and pay for) another, then I'll be skeptical. I know writers of serials (anything from B5 to novel series) often have to re-assess the structure, but I'll be skeptical until I read more about what's going on.

Thank you so much for the birthday wishes. And you know...the 8th book is going to be about how Snape leaves Hogwarts and moves in with me in America. *g*

Ohhh! Well, obviously most of Paris could be wizarding, but particularly the Left Bank. (There's a fabulous Greek restaurant...gah, could walk there, but can't remember the name!)

Rome -- I agree, the catacombs for sure. Also there's a ruined city just south of Rome, I think, called Ostia Antica. I think it died out from the plague/massive malaria outbreak in the 4th century AD. (mentioned in "Gladiator," actually.) It's very cool, and I could see there being a wizarding quarter amongst the ruins. It requires a train.

And you didn't mention going to Germany, but in the Rhine/Mosel valley, there's a castle called Berg Elltz waaaaaaaaay up in the mountains. That place is so cool -- built in the 10th or 11th century, I think, tons of original furniture and tapestries, odd little winding staircases that seem to go nowhere, secret passages, etc. I think a wizarding family definitely had to live there. :)

Hope that helps!

Oh, good call on the Grindelwald issues, forgot about that.

Yup, I went there a few years ago when I was studying abroad. It's beautiful -- requires a two hour hike to get there if you come by train. Well worth it, though!
