Jul. 18th, 2004 04:51 amYou know, I had planned on waking up a little early today - just not quite this early. Thank you, cat, for throwing up loudly and messily. On the bed. *rolls eyes* Hairball.
So I have been strong, my friends. I did only Real Life activities yesterday. Ironically enough, playing a role playing game was one f them. We hadn't gotten together in a while to play, so it was quite fun. And switching from a potentially evil dark wizard character in madcrazy love to a happy hobbit scout? Kinda tricky at first ;) However little Dru got back into the swing of things and killed two undead. With rocks. Heh.
By early evening, I freely admit, there was some twitchiness regarding the on-line RPG.
silveraspen and I both had been on much too long the night before, and we decided to make an accord: we would go for the rest of the night without going on-line. SO we went to see King Arthur instead.
Sigh.
Well, it kept us from going on-line. You know which scene I'm talking about, if you've seen it. Aspen and I just looked at each other to say "That wasn't just me was it?" And no, it was in fact slashtastic.
The historical inaccuracies were legion. If I knew nothing about English history or geography, well, that would have been a good thing. Unfortunately, I do. And I laughed at inappropriate times as a result.
I liked the knights, and I liked Clive Owen as Arthur. Loved Keira.
Why did the saxon chief have a Southern accent? That really bugged me ;)
I appreciate what the movie tried to do, but it failed.
But man, oh man, if there had been an OT3 scene w/Guinevere/Arthur/Lancelot? Would have made it the Best. Movie. Ever.
Wah... only a few more days of unlimited Milliways, and then it's off to vacation and then back to work. Stupid real life.

Date: 2004-07-18 12:28 pm (UTC)I suppose I'm just used to the idea that a lot of the time really slashy movies/tv shows are not very good movies/tv shows when evaluated on any other scale. If something's slashy, I'll enjoy that and not try to view it on any other level if those other levels are not going to work for me - which, in the case of this movie, was really just as well. *g*
