Why? Why am I waking up before 7:00 am on vacation? Wah... Actually, I blame Snorri's snoring this morning.
And not the fact that I didn't get to check my email or [livejournal.com profile] milliways_bar in twenty four hours.

Yesterday [livejournal.com profile] silveraspen and I went to visit [livejournal.com profile] pteropod during her self-proclaimed Co. Springs Appreciation Day. We had a yummy lunch at a place called La Baguette (mmmm.... french onion soup....) and then went shopping in downtown Co. Springs. Which I knew existed, but I didn't know had such fun little places to shop.

I found a corset that I am going to buy. I am very excited about this. See, I was going to reward myself for reaching the halfway mark for my Masters degree this summer by buying a cheapie PDA, since all the cool kids have them. I mentioned this, and [livejournal.com profile] pteropod and [livejournal.com profile] dirk_the_daring rushed upstairs to their treasure trove of technology and said "Look! Here's a nice one that got replaced and is sitting sad in a box!" I said, "Squee!" So now I have money to buy the pretty black corset that I have always wanted! And I'm going to wear it to Ptero's Rocky Horror Birthday party!

We also drifted into a comic store yesterday. Wah - I didn't know Vertigo had a Lucifer title out! And it's on issue 51, so it's a little late to get started. Maybe they'll release a graphic novel. Boo. I am so out of touch with the comicverse.

Happy Fourth of July to all of those who celebrate. Or as I fondly refer to it, the Day of Alcohol and Explosives.

Was it Free Comic Book Day where you were too yesterday?

And YAY CORSET. When I think of Rocky Horror, I still think of [livejournal.com profile] dirk_the_daring so you'll have a wonderful time I suspect.

Ok that's just wrong.

We went in Truro yesterday (not the "big city" where I live, but the town where my folks are), and we all got comics (I got an X-Men one and one I hadn't heard of, Brian, the Nodwick comics name has escaped me, and Damon a Dual Master one and something else) PLUS they entered Damon in a draw because he bought a new graphic novel PLUS because the guy who runs it saw me drooling over it - I got a Paranormal Investigations Division sticker from Hellboy ;) (I think the guy remembered me from high school but I'm not sure). They make a huge deal of it. And get this. Women actually WORK THERE :P

Trade paperbacks = teh win. You get a lot of story for a cheaper price, and usually a few extras, too. You might consider checking your library--they might not have the book you're looking for, but they might have some tpbs for other good series.

May I recommend Fables as another great Vertigo title that has TPBs? It's my current favorite comic, period.
