The Fandom New Year meme, gacked from
twinkledru and from
mctabby:
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Way more than I ever thought I ever would. I finished a story and a vignette and started as of today writing two other stories. So not prolific, but for me? Wow.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2002?
You know, I am pretty conventional in my writing. Het and dull - slash doesn't rock my boat. OH, except I would never, ever have predicted I would read Clark/Lex stories, of which I have found a few I like.
What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest.
That I wrote? I am really proud of finshing Regaining. I think there are a few sections of it that are pretty good.
That others wrote? Jeesh. So many. I love Lanning's Clark/Lex series. The Fire and the Rose over on Witch Fics really entertained me, and I didn't expect it to. Hard Candy made me cry at points. There was a lot of good fic this year! And once I get more of my stories written I plan to go over and read
coldcoffeeyes's Jewel of the Nile cos Roman Holiday was much good fun.
Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?
Just doing it. Actually writing a story and publishing it. I would like to do even more next year.
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
Writing more and writing faster.
"A stoned snail could do it faster!" cry the hecklers in the audience, thus quoted McTabby, and that's pretty much my story. I see the stories like movies in my head, hear the words, feel the feelings, and when I try to sit down and write it comes out so much less perfect than in my head. It is very frustrating.
I also want to write some sex scenes. Which makes me blush to think about even though I read them without blushing. But one I started today is going to require some NC-17 action, so I think I'm up to the challenge.
This is from Twinkledru. And it should come to no one as a big surprise.

TOLKIEN CONSERVATIVE: Traditional, loyal, faithful, and, above all, reverent defender of Tolkien and his works. You probably either belong to the Canon Police or are a sympathizer. Though you have a tendency to be pompous, supercilious, and condescending in conversing with fans who fail to meet your exacting standards for approval, you won't burn anyone at the stake.
