Color me pleasantly surprised!
Nov. 5th, 2003 09:28 pmWell, first I'll be honest. I played hookie from school tonight. It wasn't anything I'd planned, but I am whupped. So I took a mini-vacation. And did school work instead. Stupid family conferences and no prep time for them. Arg.
So as I yodeled on about So and So's strengths and weaknesses and home activity suggestions that will never be glanced at by the parents who need to do them, I watched my regular Wednesday line up, and surprisingly, really liked both shows.
Ok, I really thought Smallville was going to be wretched this week. But you know, they pulled it off for me. I really like the non-canonical idea of Jor El knowing where to send Kal. I mean, if I were to send my beloved infant offspring hurtling through the universe, I'd want to know where he/she'd be likely to end up. The flashback story really worked for me. And Luthor history - wow... I thought that Lionel was sincerely affected by his parents death, whether it was him doing the murder or not. That was most interesting. And poor Lex, he's drifting into madness so well. I was waiting for the mayor to light up a smoke though. So yeah, good episode. And I haven't said that for awhile.
Shout out to Wednesday Night Girls' Club (whihc was shelved due to The Matrix opening this week) - did I call the Mexican wrestlers, or what? And I was so unspoiled! Tee hee hee.
Hurray! A good Angel! I really enjoyed this one, from the nice music to the wrasslin'. The Dia de los Muertos theme was quite nice, even though technically it's Nov. 1 and as I recall, the party had ended in the not so wee hours of that morning last week. Oh well.
I am sad that Numero Cinco es muerte (um, that's probaby incorrect Spanish, but maybe not). And I had been wondering what his story was a few episodes ago when I noticed him shuffling around W&H.
Now that's my kind of Angel - a good story and nice dialogue and darkness with a dash of hope. Sadly the previews for next week look less than stellar.
Oh - and Holland Manners! Wow - nice continuity.
And Wes has a hottie assistant. Hmmmm.
And deah gott,
jennyo-of-the-scary-channeling. Your scenarios are so being set up for this season. You scare me!
I wonder who will be the first to write a 50's era LA Slayer meeting up with Los Hermanos fic?
Sigh, it was a very good evening.
Oh, and thank you thank you thank you to everyone who has sent me info on their technology memories. I do appreciate it, but I have not had a chance to sit down and look at all the messages.
