Cool story! As part of the former British Empire we've long held that gin and tonics are a fabulous summer drink. (And I do like Bombay Sapphire, or Tanqueray or an artisanal gin.) Of course, at Milliways, you've probably promised at some point "never to be cruel to a gin and tonic again."
