First let me say that I am delighted with Donna. I first watched Dr. Who back in the Romana-4th Doctor days, and even though Donna is obviously not Romana, she is acting as a wonderfully reminiscent "oh please, you're brilliant but flawed" way. I love that. I also love the more sibling-esque relationship that was played up in 4X2. I am tired of the romantic angle.
Which means I was especially grumpy to see Rose at the end of 1. Whatever. *rolls eyes*
I loved Fires of Pompeii. The bits with the translation, the traumatic decision of Pompeii vs. the world, the well done explosion - I have always been fascinated by the history of Pompeii, and I thought they did a nice job of blending the reality into the fantasy. Plus the Doctor saved the Angel Islington! The actor who played him, at any rate.
So yes. More Donna, more feisty companions, and less Rose. Yay Doctor Who!
