So glad you succombed to the evil that is LJ :P

I am reading Guards! Guards! right now - I want to read some of the older ones before I get to the newer ones. Night Watch is definitely on the list, and I think I like Vimes quite well already from his little part in Monstrous Regiment. Terry Pratchett is so cool.
