Ahh, I did not know you had read that much.
Charlie: As a Cappy Moon who loves classic Goats like William Adama, I did not even get that others (esp younger others) would not like Charlie until they started a thread about how the (exceptional, perfect, awesome) Billy Burke movie!Charlie brought them around from their hate for book!Charlie. I always got him.
Carlisle/Edward: It's the most common m/m slash and, of all the types of slash, the only one that makes any damn canonical sense, meaning I actually see true seeds there for people to spin off.
Bella: She is not obsessed with getting married. She is obsessed with NOT getting married, which I think needs as much head-shrinking (even though the character is pretty aware as to where her antipathy and ambivalence spring from). And never forget "Forever Dawn," the original sequel to "Twilight" that publishers nixed because neophyte SMeyer wrote what pleased herself, not knowing that she was supposed to be in an industry YA box with a bunch of rules and conventions. Originally, Bella did go to school and stay human before all those commitments.

You know you're grown up when you side with the parents in the teen movies.
Yes, I am afraid so. I guess that means the younger readers, unlike most Twi Moms, do not realize that Bella's rel with mama Renee is effed up and how all that too-early, inappropriate caretaking and parenting a parent is part of why a rel with Edward, who so wholly takes care of her in ways both appropriate and inappropriate (while she is human--I hate "Breaking Dawn," but I hate it more for the fact that I have to positively reference it as evidence about how much Bella's humanity colored Edward and their rel, because you see the diff when she is vamped) so attractive. They probably think Renee is way cooler than their moms.

SMeyer's official site is full of fun anecdotes about her foray into publishing, things that got cut/changed, things out of her control, etc. She did not know it was verboten for a "YA author" (not a label she sought or embraces) to, say, gloss over the senior year of h.s. in flashback so she could speed ahead to true aduthood.

Oh, and thanks to you creating this post, I asked myself how to answer these questions, and, while I do not "love" her, I find myself more sympathetic to big bad Victoria, who did lose the love of an eternity and was reacting in relatively normal vamp fashion. ;-)
