Pics of the kitty


So Kitty's name was Spot (although it's Spots in her vet records). Her original name from the Boston animal shelter was Georgia. Guess what P. and W.R. like for a name? *waves weakly at winding_path*

We have us a little Georgia kitty. She's already figured how to open the back sliding door. Heh. Pig is still Not Pleased, but they're staking out different parts of the house well.

Awww, so sweet! I like Georgia a lot. And you can tell anyone who calls her a boy that they should know that the fact that she has both black and orange fur means she must be female, b/c cat's fur color is carried on the X chromosome. So males only have one X and can have orange on it or black, but not both, b/c the Y is a dud in that area.
(Actually, I believe I've read of freak mutant males that have an extra chromosome and end up being orange and black. But you can forget that tidbit now and just be imperious with your superior cat knowledge and instant non-genitalia-based recognition of her sex.)

Yes, there are some male calicos, but because of the odd genetics they are usually blind. Our vet shared this with us when we first took Sophie to see her.
