I made you an LJ post, but I ated it. I have meant to update more this week and failed miserably, so here is a catch all post.

Happy birthday a little late, [livejournal.com profile] wanderlustlover! Or... is it early? I am not sure with time zones. I hope it is/was wonderful.

I cannot believe it's May already. This year is flying by.

I am watching cute squirrels sproing around my now-green yard. Our flowers and plants are coming back, which is always a magical thing for me every single spring.

I finished Hatful of Sky, the second in Pratchett's Tiffany Aching series, and I am here to tell you that I love his witch characters with a love that is vast and deep. It's rare in fantasy (as we all know) that you see female relationships written about in such ways. I mean, female protagonist, antagonists, mentors of different stripes - and some supporting male characters, who are nice but not the reason for the story. I'd love to read more about Granny Aching, but more Tiffany and Granny Weatherwax would be juuust fine. I'll snag the third book from the library tomorrow, I think.

I meant to write a more complete review on my Unwigged and Unplugged concert experience, but I fail in that, too. Here is the website, though!

I am, I realize, not unhappy that SPN only has one more season to go. I still enjoy watching it, but yeah. Sometimes endings are a good thing.

I caved and now have a DW account. I am vivien there, with no 529. I don't know how to do the code, or I would. I don't really plan to do much with it. I might post fic and/or back up my journal there. I am keeping my LJ as my main journal, though.

Work is good! I taught a class for teachers for the first time, and despite being worried I'd screw things up totally, I was not as nervous as I thought I'd be and it was also easier than I thought it would be. I got very good reviews, too. So that was a huge weight off my shoulders.

This time next week I will be in OK. This trip happened a bit on the fast side, but I am glad I am making it.

Hokay. I quit talking now.

Awww, in the new Entertainment Weekly there is a feature on Supernatural. It is a rather obvious tie-in to last week's episode, but they had a Supernatural 101: How to Get Hooked featuring five episodes: Home, Born Under a Bad Sign, All Hell Breaks Loose (1&2), Lazarus Rising, and Bad Day at Black Rock AND they have a picture of Bela. Whee! Yay, Bela!

Now I go to sleep. Monday killed me.

Another spoilery SPN observation along with, ahem, a Ghost Whisperer spoiler, shut up I like the show, okay? )

Now I go collapse into bed. Whee. It's not even 9:30pm on a Friday. My life is exciting.

I think that was my very favorite Supernatural episode ever.

I want a Supernatural fic/episode about the creepy Little People Village.

Read that link first, and then read more about the Queen of the Little People and her Cursed Throne.

And then write me fic! Please?

I had a fun day.

I started it with Belly Dancing Fitness at my gym. I kinda loved it, and I got a great work out. They, um, do performances. The group of ladies all had the jingly belts and scraves, because it was just such fun to dance. I'm going back next Saturday.

Then there was Supernatural with my best SPN buddy AnimeGirl (Jen's younger daughter, who stayed the night with us after her performance in a two hour marathon of a middle school production of "High School Musical" the night before. Oy.) I also showed her [livejournal.com profile] sisabet's amazing Turn You Inside Out vid and we squeed a bit more. Then she complained miserably that the next new one wasn't till March 15th and I saved the day by revealing the season 2 eps she's not seen waiting for her on the laptop.

On the way to take her home, we stopped by one of our favorite haunts, Unique Thrift Store, where P. found yet more vinyl and another amp. This one is "even better" than the other... four he has in the basement. I picked out an awesome record - Marty Robbins "More Gunfighter Ballads - mostly for the cover. Which I find delightful. His cover of "Streets of Laredo" isn't too shabby.

Tomorrow I get to go baby visiting! It is a good weekend.

You know what I like best about Supernatural? (Other than Dean, of course) The darkness and the grit of the sub-culture of hunters. It's very much a Western in that respect. Gunslingers after Gilead fell, giving aid and succor but never being anything but outsiders. Or maybe not. I'm still catching up, but that's the sense I get from it. ETA Not that I am saying the show's themes are DT-esque. Just in a romantic imagery kind of way. First impressions. I may be insane, but it's what springs to mind.

Also, the use of 80's metal in the soundtrack kills me. :-P
