Holy cow. I have six full-length Yuletide stories, and I suspect there are four more, since I had ten in my gifts section. I am overwhelmed, as is the server! I promise you, you wonderful and generous pinch-hitting Yuletiders, I will have personalized comments and shout outs for you soon. I have a wee bit of a busy day today, though. And I am kinda having troubles getting comments to go through. Poor server.

We opened prezzies at midnight! Cut for an embarrassment of riches )

In a bit we go to J's folks house for more festive merry-making. What's awesome about this is that we get a little bit of family fun, but P & I can leave at any time, since we have no obligations. Muahahaha.

What I love most about this time of year are the lights, whether they are lights on a tree, the glow of candles, or the light of hope in stories. I share with you one of my favorite clips featuring a story of light in the darkness. It's from a Christmas episode of Northern Exposure, and it's the Raven story danced at the holiday celebration in the fictional town of Cicely, Alaska.

I am so glad I bought season 1 and 2 for P's Xmas present. I forgot how much I dearly love this show. Multicultural cast, strong female characters, strong elderly characters - the show might not have been perfect, but it did a whole lot right.

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

I know this from memory (thank you, Schoolhouse Rock). I am proud of my country and my constitution, and I am really proud of our Bill of Rights, which affords us all in this country the right to free speech. I am not embarrassed to say I am patriotic, especially now that I have a government I respect much more than any in my adulthood.

Is my country (and its citizens) perfect? No. We probably never will be because of that whole pesky human nature thing. I still don't want to live anywhere else but here. This is my country.

And now to balance out the patriotic fervor with a little protest song (which many don't realize is a protest song), This Land Is Your Land by Woody Guthrie.

Is this land made for you and me? The tools - our historical documents, our right to vote, our right to speak out against what we feel is wrong - are there. But we have to use them. It is our right and our privilege.

Now, go set off a firecracker and eat some pie! Happy Fourth of July, fellow Americans! And Happy Saturday to everyone else!

We've had a very BBC Christmas. Blackadder Christmas special - a tradition - and Absolutely Fabulous Christmas special, with Tony Robinson hosting a worst jobs of historical Christmas on History International in between. Wheeeeee!

Man, I love Christmas. If you celebrate, Merry Christmas! If not, then I send you peace and goodwill just for the heck of it.

Is Yuletide open yet? I am dying of excitement, as per usual. I wrote a treat at work and eeee! Yuletide.

We've had family time, all our Denver presents have been exchanged, and we're watching Blackadder's Christmas Carol. God bless us, every one!

My Yuletide story is called The Bridal Path, and it's a perfectly twisted Addams Family (movie) story featuring Wednesday/Joel.

I love it.

Thanks, Yuletide Santa!!!

Also? We opened our prezzies, and yay. I received wonderful gifts this year. P. loves his new MP3 player, and I have inherited his old iPod (which was Aspen's originally - talk about a hand-me-down).

Dear Santa )

The results are amusing, considering Shati's post on organ donation.

It is sooooo cold here. And only supposed to get colder. I blame the White Witch, although I do believe we'll have a Christmas, and I do believe my first round of Xmas cards are IN THE MAIL! WOOO HOOO!

It is always nice to be a little ahead of schedule. Yipes, though, I have to get my Yuletide story written sometime this week, as my mom and mom-in-law aren't leaving till the afternoon of the 18th. I have it sketched out, but I have no inspiration, really. Blah. However, it will get done.

And then I will have a fabulous week with my moms, my graduation, and early Christmas.

Siiiigh...still in a holding pattern in another matter, but I am hopeful.

OH! The new Fiona Apple? Absolutely brilliant. I love it.

Um, ramble ramble ramble!

Happy birthday, [ profile] spicedrum!!!!

I saw the Narnia display at a local mall today consisting of a giant snowglobe you can walk through. It was underwhelming, but there were props on display and on of Peter's very regal costumes. AND a new trailer I hadn't seen. So excited for the movie!

I started on my holiday cards, and we put up the Xmas lights yesterday night. No tree yet, though. We'll wait on that. I am also nearly done with my shopping, but to be fair, I don't have a ton of people to shop for.

Wait, it's Sunday... my four day weekend s over, waaaah. *clings to Sunday*

Xmas Wish List rules )

Here is what I'd like!
1. Cards and letters! Funny Xmas cards, pretty Xmas cards! Send them, send them!
I love getting mail.
2. Pretty icons for this journal of Narnia (esp. Susan and Peter), fairies, etc.
3. Tom icons - I can never get enough of Christian Coulson
4. Ingress icons - with the hair colored blue for me!
5. If the LJ fairy wanted to treat Susan or Ingress to paid journal time, that would be keen.
6. Ficlets! Tom - canon or Millicanon, House of Arch family, Neverwhere - canon or non-canon, Narnia, HP imaginative ones...
7. Drabbles! See above.
8. A Susan action figure! Even though there are only Peter and Edmund ones so far.
9. Did I mention the cards and letters thing? Here's a link to my address (friends locked)-OOH< or themed mix cd's. Love those.
10. For everyone of you to do something like donate money or toys to charities - I like to get presents when they have the Christmas trees at stores filled with kid or elderly folks requests. Do something like that.

Now, you guys join Nny and me - you have to get started on these prezzies early. ;)

OMG, I had an English muffin with egg and cheese for breakfast, a cupcake and yogurt for lunch, and another cupcake for snack. *facepalm* Somedays I make bad, bad choices.

On the plus side, a little boy brought me a rose today and I got a teensy teddy bear from a little girl. And lots of candy, the thought of which makes me shiver due to my cupcake overdose.

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day, or at the very least, had a great time ignoring Valentine's Day ;)
